Professional Development Framework

Level Requirements

Level Four: Associate Degree

Entry criteria:

Admission to an AAS program in ECE at any U of Alaska campus. A CDA provides a start on an AAS degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), but students may be admitted to an AAS program with no prior ECE training.

Exit requirements:

Completion of all degree requirements for the 60 credit program. Advisor guidance ensures that students take only applicable coursework. With advisor guidance, an AAS degree can apply to a bachelors degree.

Positions in the Early Childhood at this level:

Early Care and Education: Head Start teachers, preschool teachers, family home providers, child caregivers. Elementary: Primary public school paraprofessionals. Early Intervention/Infant Learning program paraprofessionals, Tutor Advisors, out of school care providers.
